On January 30, the National Dairy Authority (NDA) conducted a stakeholders’ meeting at the Hive Hotel and Convention Center in Quezon City to discuss the implementation of Republic Act (RA) 12308. The law transfers the regulatory authority over dairy products from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to the NDA.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the FDA and NDA, as well as directors and members of the Philippine Chamber of Food Manufacturers, Inc. (PCFMI), the Philippine Association of Food Technologists (PAFT), and various farm milk producers.

During the session, the NDA outlined the interim transition phase covering product registration and License to Operate (LTO) requirements. It was shared that companies with no major changes in product formulation or operations may be granted a possible one-year extension. The NDA also clarified that initial registration of new products, including those with existing registrations, will be accommodated during the transition period.

To ensure business continuity, applications will be manually accepted while the new system is being finalized. The NDA announced that it will formally communicate the official start of application acceptance in the coming weeks, providing further guidance to stakeholders on the transition process.
